For when you're all dressed up, kind of hungry, and totally not ready to sit around.
That in-between time before the reception? It's always a vibe. Hair and makeup are done, outfits are on point, and you're surrounded by your closest friends, but now what? Whether you're looking to kill time, snap a few extra pics, or just relax before the big celebration, we’ve got you covered.
Here are go-to hangout ideas for you and your court, from sunny-day stops to rainy-day retreats:
⚠️ A Quick Note Before We Dive In:
It’s always important to be respectful of the locations you visit. Many of these spots are shared spaces , so please be mindful of noise, clean up after yourselves, and always follow any posted rules or guidelines.
When you’re planning your quince court, also consider how many people will be hanging out together before the reception. A small group is usually easier to manage and welcome in more casual public places. If your court has 10+ teens, we recommend choosing bigger, open spaces like public parks or outdoor shopping areas, or making sure there’s at least one adult chaperone with you. The idea of unleashing a large group of excited teens into a quiet café or small boutique? Probably not ideal.
That said, whether your court is big or small, here are some fun, court-approved places to hang while you wait for the party to start.
Why It Matters
We’ve seen it time and time again, quinceañeras and their courts are way more excited, relaxed, and willing to take more fun photos when they’ve had time to recharge. Whether it’s a caffeine hit at Dutch Bros or a quick fries stop at In-N-Out, these breaks create candid, joyful moments that make for awesome photos.
And most importantly? Most teens don’t eat breakfast, so this “mini break” keeps hangriness away, especially if there’s still a while until dinner at the venue.
😋 When You're Hungry (But Not Starving)
- Boba shops or smoothie bars – Refreshing, photogenic, and straw-friendly with lipstick.
- Fruit cups, paletas, or light desserts – Easy to share, easy to eat, and won’t mess up your makeup.
- Snack trucks or pop-up stands – Sometimes the best snacks are from the spots you find by surprise.
- Anything handheld and mess-free – Think mini churros, mochi donuts, or pretzel bites.
- Coffee spots like Starbucks or Dutch Bros - Get the energy up again, especially if you've been up since 5 am for hair and makeup.
🍔 When You Just Want to Eat (Like, Actually Eat)
Sometimes the glam fades, the stomach growls, and you all just need something filling before the reception. If you’re in full dress or robes, here are some fast food spots that are usually chill and court-approved:
- In-N-Out, Chick-fil-A, or Raising Cane’s – Great for sitting as a group, quick service, and teen-approved favorites.
- Panera or Chipotle – A little more sit-down without feeling too fancy. Bonus: easy menu customization for picky eaters.
- Taco Bell or Del Taco – Late-night vibes, low stress, and always hits the spot after a full morning of glam.
- Shake Shack or Five Guys – A little more elevated than the usual drive-thru, but still casual enough for a full court.
- Pizza-by-the-slice spots – Shareable, fast, and easy to eat without making a mess.
- Wing Stop - Quick bites to eat before heading to the big dinner at the venue.
- Local Burger Joints - Eat a burger and support a local business!
⚠️ Important: If you're planning to eat in your dresses, be extra careful!
☀️ When It’s a Sunny Day & You Just Want to Chill
- Parks or gardens – Think pretty backdrops, shade trees, and space to hang out or take photos.
- Outdoor shopping centers – You don’t even need to buy anything. Just walk, talk, sip on a drink, and enjoy the pre-party buzz.
- Boardwalks or scenic spots – Great for cute photos, people-watching, and breathing before the chaos.
🌧️ When It’s Raining & You Need to Stay Cute and Dry
- Malls or indoor shopping centers – Walk around, grab a snack, or make your own Build-a-Bear.
- Coffee shops with a vibe – Bonus points if they have cool seating, plants, or art for selfies.
🛍️ When You Just Want to Kill Time
- Outdoor festivals or weekend pop-ups – Music, booths, peopl; perfect court bonding energy.
- Window shopping downtown – Great photo ops and spontaneous fun.
- Bowling alleys or arcades – Glam and games? Yes, it’s a vibe.
